Aeration of Greens and Course Conditions |
|

Our decision to delay the aeration of the greens at Mill Pond until mid-October was a big hit with our golfers. Now that October 17th has arrived, the aeration of the greens had to be done to ensure that we continue to provide some of the finest conditions of any public golf course on Long Island.
The front nine greens were aerated on Monday, October 17th. The back nine greens were aerated on Tuesday, October 18th. The aeration process involves the poking of small holes, which are then filled with sand that is thoroughly brushed in as part of the top-dressing process. This process may result in some uneven surfaces on the greens in the short term, but that is what makes the quality of our greens so highly regarded throughout the year. The entire course was reopened as of Wednesday, October 19th and the greens are rolling very well. The Tee Boxes and Fairways were not aerated at this time, they will be aerated in the Spring 2012 and they remain in outstanding shape.
We have implemeneted our very favorable off-season rates in recognition of the off-season weather and conditions. Please come out and play, there is plenty of beautiful autumn weather still ahead of us.
